[ Viktor's settled down in a nice house since he's first arrived; planted a bunch of flowers, made some ivy crawl up his house, the whole she-bang. he's still not perfectly acquainted with Demeleier just yet, but it seems he's taking a break from that to-

well. to chill with some faefolk.

those new flowers that have popped up all over? Viktor's sitting carefully in a little clearing with them, careful not to crush any of his new friends. ]

I know that we should be careful... but these...flower fairies? They're really nice... they made some really pretty flowers too...

[ a few Pillywiggin are seen amongst the flowers too if you look hard enough. not too close to Viktor, but not too far, either. a safe distance. except for one inspecting some flowers on his lap very closely. ]

They let me sit here because the flowers liked me- um. Everyone make sure you don't damage their flowers...okay?

[ Viktor seems 10x calmer sitting here dazed out in the flowers, it's a nice change of pace not to be babbling and stuttering. Viktor looks down at something on his lap- on closer inspection instead of it just being more of the flowers, it seems he's working on a flower crown. ]

Oh...and ask before you pick any flowers too. As long as you're polite they shouldn't mind.

Is it nice to have a family? I watch a lot of human families, and I wonder about that. Mostly they seem happy.

[His partner Elle is sort of like a sister, at least from what he's seen, but he's not sure.]

Y-Yes. My family was always nice to me... e-even if I must have been really f-frustrating...

[ Viktor gives a timid smile, nodding his head. ] T-That's so confusing... [ a small giggle, he tries to hold it back. ]

W-We'll keep thanking eachother- o-over and over- won't we? Hehe...

Perhaps that is why you're a kind person now.

Hm...except, Elia was too... Maybe it depends.

[He's not quite aware he said that out loud.]

I don't think we have to, since we did once. Unless you want to.

I-I...um... I don't know. [ fluster fluster ]

Elia?

[ Viktor shakes his head, still smiling. ] Once is, um, good.

[Now you'll get the 'seen a ghost,' look. If Rubi's skin could drain of color, it would.

Instead he shakes his head as if to clear away the unwanted expression.]

Did I say that? I'm sorry. Elia [...] was someone I protected before. His family wasn't very kind to him.

[He can't bring himself to say 'friend,' though Elia had called him that.

Now he's staring at Viktor more solemnly.]

It's good that your family isn't like that.

... [ Viktor quietly watches Rubi, a little stunned by his reaction. for once he has...nothing to say, just glancing down at his lap, nodding timidly. ]

O-Oh.

That sounds...horrible. I-I'm sorry...

[Rubi is unhappy that he mentioned it at all. He's not sure why. It's something to do with his protective feeling toward Viktor. Here, at least, there's no reason for Viktor to know about certain things. Cruel incidents like Elia's fate were best left unsaid.

Especially since Viktor reminded him of Elia a bit, at first.

He tries to smile, because he otherwise he's going to show a sad expression.]

Ah... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to mention it.

D-Don't apologize... i-if anything... I'm sorry I can't be comforting.

['You shouldn't.' But he'll have to explain more if he says that.]

It's all right. I've lived a long time, and so, I'm used to some things.

[Trying a smile again. It seems to work better this time.]

I think I'm going to take a nap on the rooftop. Would you make a flower crown for me while I do that?

... [ Viktor nods. he'll leave things at that for now. he didn't want to mess up and force Rubi to feel like he had to speak about things to him.

he didn't want to lose his 'first' friend. ]

Mm. [ nod ] I'll make it...! S-sleep well.

Thank you, Viktor.

[He's relieved that his friend isn't pressing him for more. Now he doesn't have to upset the human boy or cause him unnecessary pain.]

I'll try. Come and wake me up if you need help with the roof.

Okay! I will!

[ which, actually is not true because Viktor is staring at the ivy nervously after a quick timeskip. his head is piled-on with three flower crowns (one miniature!) so he doesn't have to carry them all in his arms.

he wanted to let Rubi know he trusted him with touching him, but at the same time, he didn't want to wake him... and well, here he was. staring at ivy.

what should he do...? ]

[This would be Rubi with one arm thrown over the roof and his face nestled in the hard surface as if into a pillow. It actually took him a bit to fall asleep since he was thinking over the last part of their conversation.

But now he's definitely snoozing. Viktor can try to wake him up or dangerously begin to climb the house by himself--which will probably also wake him up.]

why did you think this was a good idea this is mildly terrifying. you quietly whisper to the ivy for a bit of help... yes that leaf snuggly slithering across the small of his back is a little reassuring. he wont wont fall too far if it does it's best to catch him.

okay, he can do this... slow and steady. ]

[Rubi stirs a little bit in his sleep. The climbing sounds aren't that loud, though, so it takes him a moment to open his eyes. Then another few to sit up and peer around for the source of that sound--

--and then to look down while swallowing a yawn.]

Oh! Viktor... [He's just surprised, since he thought the other would wake him first.]

Are you steady, doing that?

[He's leaning over the roof, wondering if he can just help him up from a certain point. Hopefully Viktor won't fall.]

[ slow and steady somehow turned into stare blankly at the ivy-covered wall as you get stuck in the middle.

slowly he'll glance up at Rubi, eyes a little...glossy. ]

... I-I'm scared- [ words are failing, so his mind spews out the first thing he's feeling and thinking. ]

[Oh... Well then...

He's not going to stay up here and watch that.]

[Gonna unfurl these large wings and carefully descend from the roof. He doesn't want them to get caught in anything, either. There isn't much space involved.

Rubi will carefully grasp Viktor and pull him out of the ivy-and-roof mixup. He's thinking of flying back up, but he hesitates in midair while holding the boy.]

[Then instead he drifts to the ground with him and lands next to the patch of sunflowers they (sort of) planted together. Viktor really likes flowers and is calm around them, so maybe this is a good idea.

Oh, and he's sort of forgetting to put him down. Instead he just pulls him back a bit and stares into his eyes with a concerned expression.]

Will you be all right? You didn't hurt yourself on the wall, did you?

[ fgsdgdghfhgfh h-he's just staying in the air- Viktor is clinging to him like some sort of tiny scared animal, afraid to budge an inch lest Rubi let him go.

but then the next minute he's on the ground and Rubi is looking at him and looking worried- o-oh. ]

I-I didn't know where to step next- a-and I slipped a bit- and um. Uh. I got so worried. S-Sorry.

[ wow that was dumb. he didn't mean for Rubi to be worrying over him. ]

Thank you. Um. Though.

Ah... why didn't you wake me up?

[Rubi stares at Viktor wide-eyed. Did this human terrify himself just because he didn't want to interrupt a nap?

Well... at least he doesn't see any injuries on him. After one more glance around to be sure, he pulls Viktor closer again and will attempt to soothingly pat his head.]

If you're frightened of something next time, tell me. I can protect you from---

[Houses? Vines?] Ah, from whatever it is.

[Now he smiles and after a moment he takes one of Viktor's hands and places it on top of a sunflower, gently.]

[ Rubi was so... nice. ]

[ Viktor just gives a numb nod as his head is pat, and lets Rubi move his hand to one of the sunflowers. as the warm, sunny thoughts filter in, he smiles again. ]

Th- Thank you both.

Both...?

Oh, is the flower protecting you also? I thought it might.

[Rubi keeps ruffling Viktor's hair. It's comfortable to sit like this with him, and he's still a bit worried anyway.]
